Are you sure you're fit for golf?
You should have heard the term "fit for golf" by now. It's all over the news, and it's also becoming popular with amateur golfers who wish to maximize their abilities. Golfers are becoming more aware of the sport's fitness component and are seriously contemplating getting fit for it.
Tell me if you've ever injured yourself playing golf, even if it sounds like an oxymoron. Have you ever had a tight lower back? Or perhaps a sore shoulder as a result of playing? The list of injuries that can result from swinging a golf club is endless.
This would support the argument that getting fit for golf is not an oxymoron, but rather a need if you want to stop being frustrated and start playing like you know you can.
Golf is a 'physical' sport that places a lot of strain on the body. If your golf muscles aren't strong enough to resist the forces of a swing at up to 100 mph, your muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints will pay the price.
Just think about it!
You swing a three-foot tool at speeds up to 100 miles per hour while maintaining a very dynamic body stance. It's physically impossible to attain these swing mechanics unless you have the necessary muscular strength and flexibility.
Take a look at putting! How many times have you only practiced for 5-10 minutes and your lower back was in excruciating pain? Do you know who the bad guy was? Hamstrings are tight, and the lower back is weak. This does not happen to golfers who are in good physical shape. They can putt for an hour and not feel anything.
That would be wonderful, wouldn't it?
Why don't you try hitting out of the deep rough? How many times have you left the ball exactly where you started? Or, if you did advance it, did your wrist start to hurt?
If you were fit for golf, this would not happen!
Take a closer look at the facts! Golf is a sport that requires a lot of physical exertion. Golf necessitates a great deal of strength and flexibility. Golf can bring injuries to out-of-shape bodies. When you're the shortest hitter in your foursome, golf might be frustrating. Golf can drive you nuts!
