Golf-Specific Fitness Is In!

On tour, golf-specific fitness is the norm! There's no getting around it! You need to become in better golf fitness if you want to play your best! Golf is a physically demanding sport... It necessitates dynamic strength as well as flexibility.

The days of the 19th hole are long gone! That is, if you want to be the most powerful member of your foursome. Why not take some cool down stretches after your round instead of going to the 19th hole to be ready for the next round?

I'm not saying you have to be a golf-obsessive, but you should be aware that ideal golf performance has a distinct "physical component." Swinging a club at speeds of up to 100 mph while maintaining your golf posture puts a lot of strain on your body.

A golf-specific fitness program that incorporates golf training and golf stretching will improve your body's capacity to deliver incredible power where it matters most...at impact!

What do you mean by golf-specific fitness?

It's not going to the gym and performing a sitting chest press, I can assure you. It's not about berating yourself for two hours every day. It's not as if you're lifting a lot of weight. It does, however, necessitate a commitment. It's the same with anything worthwhile.

"If it were easy, everybody would do it," as the saying goes.

With over 70 million baby boomers eager to enjoy life and live a healthier lifestyle, with the vast majority of them enjoying golf...

Fitness for golfers "kills two birds with one stone." A better golf game and a fitter, stronger body. What better way to spend your golden years than this?

Dynamic strength and flexibility, muscular endurance directly related to your golf swing, balance, coordination, and stability, and a much improved sequence of timing to deliver maximum force through the impact zone are all part of golf specific fitness.

Golf-specific fitness does not necessitate lifting large weights, although it is always a desire to improve your golf swing strength. Strengthening your golf swing requires a special strategy that cannot be achieved with a normal fitness regimen.

The importance of "rotational" strength and flexibility should be emphasized!

The golf swing is a rotating movement that occurs at a high rate. The goal of achieving maximum distance is to generate more torque and be able to store and release it at the proper time.

This necessitates a strong focus on core rotational movements against resistance. This is the ONLY technique to improve your backswing range of motion and power while also improving your backswing. These exercises can be performed while sitting on a stability ball, standing tall, assuming your golf posture, or even on one leg.

It kills me to see a trainer do a bicep curl with a golf client. This will NOT help your golf swing. Just take a look at the position your wrist is in doing a standard bicep curl. It’s turned out very awkwardly (and uncomfortably).

Do you grip a golf club like this? Then why would you do this exercise? If you’re a golfer, you wouldn’t!

How about a seated chest press on a machine?

I’ve seen golfers in the gym doing this one.

Golf is played "on your feet," with each major muscle group in your body moving in a specific order. What difference would a "sitting" chest press on a "controlled" machine make to your golf swing?

It wouldn't be possible!

For 18 holes, golf-specific training will keep your body moving powerfully through your golf swing. Your swing will become more consistent as a result of this. All of your clubs, notably your driver, will gain a significant amount of yardage. And the number of injuries you sustain will decrease.
